Rotary Bike Tour

The Bike Tour has been a part of Northfield Rotary since 1994. Now held the 4th Saturday of September, it used to be a part of the Defeat of Jesse James Days weekend. In the past it made for quite a spectacle to have all the festivities plus hundres of bikers heading off all over the countryside for a supported bike ride. In 2022 the Rotary club moved the event headquarters to Central Park, bringing the focus downtown and enabling the participants to make use of the historic downtown's restaurants and pubs post-ride.

The money that the club raises through entry fees and sponsorships goes toward its many causes, such as Books for Africa, clean water projects in Guatemala, the Northfield Community Action Center, and dozens of other local and regional organizations. The international Youth Exchange program is another key benficiary of fundraiser events such as the Tour.

It takes dozens of Rotarians and community members working together to pull off a big event like the Tour. The planning team works for months to plan the routes, working with the DOT for planned construction and road conditions. Rotarians Dave Wolf and John Sinning lend their biking experience to reach the riders with all the best information, GPS data files downloadable from the website, digital route maps with turn by turn directions, and more.
