INTERESTING NOTES ABOUT THE HOME
The windows in the living room facing 5th street (below the bevelled glass) do not open -- they never did because they were varnished closed long ago. If you open the front door to the porch and the kitchen and dining room windows, the whole first floor airs out well. Those living room windows have historic value and the owner chose to retain them. The screens for all the windows are in the basement. The windows are single pane in the living room and dining room, but with storm windows, so are well protected. All the rest of the house has double if not triple pane.
The kitchen floor has been resanded and varnished several times, including in the past year. In the 1970s, it was vinyl, with oak underneath, and most of the rest of the house had carpet over the wood. The current owner redid the floors of the entire house at least twice, though not the back room finished in 2000 since it gets almost no traffic.
The 2nd floor largest bedroom has an interesting history. That part of the house once included a sunporch, with the bedroom having a closet on the south side. The current owner added windows & made the sunporch into a closet and larger bathroom.
The current owner was told that there was a cistern under part of the kitchen but has never investigated it nor needed it for any reason.
